Paul Gilreath is an award-winning composer who creates original music in a variety of styles for video games, film, television, trailers, and broadcast advertising. His music is dynamic and emotional, often melding traditional orchestral elements with synthesizer, world and ethnic sounds and huge percussion sounds. His compositions include energetic epic orchestral works that are perfect for today’s trailers and action game projects; beautifully lush and romantic music that can highlight film and television; fun, quirky pieces perfect for today’s cartoons; and edgy, modern works that can provide the perfect feel for appropriate film, television and advertising projects.

Gilreath has written theme, underscore and broadcast advertising music for a wide range of clients that include NBC, CBS, Cartoon Network, ESPN, PBS, New World Cinema, Disney, AFI, The Weather Channel, Cannon Films, Delta Airlines, American Airlines, MacGregor Golf and many others. His music has been used multiple times for the Olympic Games broadcasts on NBC and several PGA tournaments on NBC. CBS has featured his music on recent broadcasts of The Masters Golf Tournament. He scored the feature film No Retreat No Surrender starring Jean Claude Van Damme, Knights of the City starring Curtis Mayfield, and Making Contact directed by Roland Emmerich (Independence Day).

Though the project always dictates the genre of music, Gilreath is frequently called on to supply huge, epic orchestrations. His signature sound combines virtual orchestration technique with live players to produce a hybrid result that is powerful and energetic. This results in a perfect style of music for epic games and film trailers. And Gilreath draws on a team of studio musicians and symphonic players in Atlanta, Nashville and LA to produce music that is of the highest caliber.

Gilreath is equally comfortable writing for and conducting live orchestra as he is working with the latest virtual instruments, sample libraries and software. He is an expert in "virtual orchestration", the process of producing orchestral music using sample libraries. His 700-page book, The Guide to MIDI Orchestration, which is in its 3rd edition and is considered “the bible” on the subject of virtual orchestration and is used by composers and in universities all over the world to teach individuals how to produce outstanding virtual orchestrations. Because of his expertise, he is called on by many major sample library production companies to consult and test product and to produce compositions using their products.

Gilreath graduated from Stetson University with a Bachelor of Music degree in composition. After graduation, he enrolled in the University of Southern California's masters program to further his training in composition. While at USC, Gilreath was signed by film music agent Richard L. Emler at the age of 21. This led Gilreath to begin his work in film and television. He scored his first feature film at the age of 23.

Gilreath has produced three solo CDs, each recorded with members of the illustrious Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. His smooth jazz/New Age CD, Eyes of the Morrow spent over 13 weeks on the NAV and Billboard New Age charts.
